Last updated: 21 June 2026

Afayer ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service"). Please read this policy carefully. If you do not agree with its terms, please discontinue use of the Service.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

  • Account information: name, date of birth, gender, email address, and password when you register.
  • Profile information: photos, religious background, sect, ethnicity, languages, education, occupation, and other details you choose to add to your profile.
  • Communications: messages you send to other users through our in-app chat, including chaperone-monitored conversations.
  • Verification data: selfie images or government-issued ID documents submitted for photo or identity verification.
  • Support requests: information you provide when contacting our support team.

Information collected automatically

  • Device information: device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information.
  • Usage data: features used, pages viewed, search queries, swipe activity, and interaction timestamps.
  • Log data: IP address, crash reports, and diagnostic data.
  • Location data: approximate location (city/country level) derived from your IP address or, with your explicit permission, precise GPS location to show nearby members.

Information from third parties

  • Social sign-in: if you register via Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from that provider.
  • Face verification: facial geometry data processed by Microsoft Azure Face API solely to confirm you are a real person. We do not store facial templates after verification is complete.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account and profile.
  • Suggest compatible matches based on your preferences and Islamic criteria.
  • Enable in-app messaging, chaperone mode, voice, and video calls.
  • Verify your identity and maintain a safe, authentic community.
  • Send service notifications, security alerts, and (where you have opted in) promotional communications.
  • Analyse usage trends to improve and develop new features.
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and other harmful activity.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

3. Sensitive Personal Data

The Service involves categories of sensitive personal data, including religious beliefs, ethnicity, and biometric data used for verification. We collect this data only to provide the core functionality of a faith-based marriage platform. You may choose what to share on your profile; mandatory fields are limited to those necessary to operate the Service.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We may share it in the following limited circumstances:

  • Other users: profile information you make visible is shown to potential matches. Private photos remain blurred until you choose to reveal them.
  • Service providers: trusted third parties who assist us with hosting, analytics, payment processing, customer support, and verification (including Microsoft Azure). These parties are contractually bound to protect your data and may not use it for their own purposes.
  • Legal requirements: when required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with continued protection under this policy.
  • Safety: to protect the rights, property, or safety of Afayer, our users, or the public.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may delete your account at any time from within the app; we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate fraud-prevention purposes.

6. Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a minor has created an account, we will delete it promptly.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Object to or restrict certain processing activities.
  • Data portability — receive your data in a structured format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at afayer.com@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Our mobile app does not use browser cookies. We use anonymous analytics SDKs to collect aggregated usage statistics. You may opt out of personalised analytics through your device settings (Limit Ad Tracking on iOS; Opt out of Ads Personalisation on Android).

10. International Transfers

Afayer operates globally. Your data may be processed in countries outside your own, including countries that may not provide the same level of data protection as your home country. Where we transfer data internationally, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

11. Third-Party Links

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for their privacy practices and encourage you to review their policies.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via in-app notification or email. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
